Events & News"It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.”
On Sunday, March 16, 2025, Barbara Jeanette Clowers passed away at the age of 83.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Cecilia Konieczny, her brothers, Frank Konieczny and Robert Konieczny and her nephew, Jimmy Konieczny.
Barbara was born in Austin County, Texas on August 5, 1941. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and then Brenham High School and graduated in 1959. Barbara married the love of her life, Roy Allen Clowers, on June 23, 1963. She and Roy called many places home over the years while raising their family. They lived in Baton Rouge, LA, Houston, TX, Atlanta, GA, Greenwood, MS, Chattanooga, TN, Greensboro, NC and then finally retired in Ridgeland, MS. Barbara was involved in many things in each city, notably a member of the Greenwood Junior Auxiliary and Garden Club. She became a Master Gardner while in Greensboro, NC, and later joined the Garden Club in Ridgeland, MS. Barbara’s Catholic faith was extremely important to her. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and throughout her life she was always involved in each parish where they lived. Barbara,“MeMe”, was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who always put her family and others before herself. She was always there to show her support with a warm hug and a bit of advice. As a mother, she was devoted to her children and helped them in every aspect of their growth. She was always present and selflessly giving of her time. She made their house a home and always put the needs of her family first. She had a love of gardening and decorating and took pride in always keeping her home spotless and welcoming. It was in her gardening where she found the most peace. She was always tinkering, never satisfied, but also always completely enjoying the process of being outside and creating something that was so beautiful to anyone that had the pleasure of seeing it. Her love of her children was always at the fore front, but it was her grandchildren that brought her the most joy. Her role as MeMe is where she truly thrived, that was where she found her true calling.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Roy Clowers, her children Terri (Bill) Iupe, Kim (Jeff) Haynie, Mark (Catherine) Clowers, and her 7 grandchildren Maggie (Garrett) Webb, Lauren (Walton) Chaney, Claire (Jack) Thoms, Lindsay Haynie, Noah Haynie, Isla Clowers, and Chase Clowers.
