Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial - David Cowger

David Stanley Cowger of Madison, Mississippi passed away peacefully at his home on Friday October 6, 2023. He was born in Houston, Texas on August 9,1959, the only child of David Crosby and Christene Henderson Cowger. David is survived by his wife, Anne and his children, Sean, Christopher, and Katherine Cowger. He is preceded in death by his parents.

David attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where he was a member of the Razorback Golf Team. He completed his studies at the University of Houston. Upon graduation, David began working as a golf professional at River Oaks Country Club in Houston. He subsequently worked at several golf clubs in Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi, including Preston Trail, The Country Club of Jackson, Russellville Country Club, Whisper Lake, and Annandale Golf Club. David was the owner of the David Cowger Golf Academy where he shared his love of the game and extensive knowledge of the golf swing with many students from beginners to accomplished players.

David cherished his family and was most content with time spent at home with his wife and children. He was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday October 10, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Madison, with visitation at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow on Wednesday October 11, 2023, in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, St. Benedict, LA.

Memorial donations may be made in David’s name to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Anthony Catholic School, Madison, MS or to the charity of your choice.
