Arthur Dwight Hood, 70, of Madison, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home on April 18, 2025. Born on July 21, 1954, in Bentonia, MS, Dwight was the son of Otha and Lena Johnston Hood. He was a graduate of Benton Academy, undergrad from Delta State and earned his Juris Doctorate from Ole Miss. A dedicated and accomplished attorney, he proudly served his community through his law practice, A. Dwight Hood & Associates, located in Madison. Dwight will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments, but also for his unwavering devotion to his family and community. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, whose greatest joy was found in the time he spent with his loved ones. Dwight was also a passionate outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting, and gave back to his community through his involvement in the Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club, and the Madison Chamber of Commerce. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Kathleen Farrell Hood; his son, Devin Hood, and daughter-in-law Geneva Torrence Hood of Madison; and his treasured grandchildren, Holden, Quinn, and Owen Hood. He is also survived by his sisters, Debbie Nelson of Benton, MS, and Lynn Bonnette of LaPlace, LA; his brother, Charles Hood of Boise, ID; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Otha and Lena Hood; his sister, Cynthia Corder; and brothers, William Hood, Jr. and Larry Hood. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Madison, MS, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) or the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) in Dwight’s honor.
