Johnie “John” Ray Parish of Savannah, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024, at Texas Health Hospital in Frisco, Texas, surrounded by family. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on February 13, 1943, while his father was serving the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. He grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he was an Eagle Scout and graduate of Gray High School. He graduated from Mississippi State University in Industrial Engineering in 1966. The only thing he loved more than Miss State football was his family.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and June Parish of Pascagoula, Mississippi; and by son, Jon Parish, of Prosper, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda Parish, and daughter, Amy Parish, both of Savannah, Texas; daughter-in-law, Amanda Parish and granddaughter, Megan Parish of Hideaway, Texas; sister Ann Sanford of Pascagoula, Mississippi; and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Madison, Mississippi. Visitation precedes the service at 10:00 a.m.
